New Apple patent would embed light sensors into the display, hints at iPhone 8 technology

The United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) today awarded Apple a patent describing a process for embedding light-sensing sensors into a mobile display. The invention, titled “Electronic devices with display-integrated light sensors,” potentially paves the way for next year’s iPhone. Apple’s new patent specifically mentions the ambient light and proximity sensors, which are found on the front face of the device, as being integrated into the display assembly. According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and pundits in the know, like Daring Fireball’s John Gruber, the iPhone 8—or whatever a 2017 iPhone (or Tenth Anniversary iPhone) ends up being called—should be a major design departure from prior models as it would supposedly get rid of the chin and forehead bezels by integrating Touch ID and the front-camera along with other sensors directly into the display....

With MotoGP 22, Milestone has thought outside the box to deliver on what hopefully gets implemented into other racing franchises along with an improved approach for new racers....

Samsung Galaxy S23 review: The perfect compact flagship

Every year, without fail, for the past 10 years or more, Samsung has delivered what may consider the de-facto flagship phone choice for Android users. And based on our time with the latest Galaxy S23, that winning streak isn’t about to end any time soon. It doesn’t move the bar up significantly from its predecessor -the Galaxy S22- but there are few competitors in the Android space that offer the same combination of features and performance in as compact a form, and very few at all that deliver software and security updates as promptly or for as long a time as Samsung....

Switch Online + Expansion Pack’s pricing gives the service too much credit

I don’t pay for online services anymore. Not frequently, anyways, since almost all of my online gaming is done on my PC. If I’m getting a new co-op game or multiplayer shooter, it’s exclusively going to end up in my Steam library, because I don’t have to shell out a single extra cent to properly play the game. But I can still at least acknowledge that some online services are worth the $60 they charge each year....

The Meteoric Rise And Fall Of Sam Bankman-Fried

The Meteoric Rise And Fall Of Sam Bankman-Fried Sam Bankman-Fried has been a few things in his life, but his two most prominent roles are almost the polar opposite of each other. At one point he could be considered the picture of a cryptocurrency success story — amassing a fortune worth billions and assembling a crypto-empire in a very short space of time. On the other hand, Bankman-Fried could potentially be used as a case study on the volatility surrounding cryptocurrency and how the market’s lack of regulation could leave investors watching helplessly as their savings evaporate into nothing....
