Out of all the projects Channing Tatum has scored to date, perhaps one of his most iconic ones was none other than 2012’s comedy-action21 Jump Street. It starred him and Jonah Hill in the lead as police officers who go undercover as students to bust a drug ring. This film was a classic blockbuster, both critically and commercially, that went on to spawn even a sequel.

However, a sequel was all that it could bring after the original movie, with reports about it getting a crossover movie with theMen in Blackfranchise biting the dust soon after surfacing online. But that seems to be about to change as Tatum exclusively presented some hot uplifting updates for fans about this very unmade third film in the film series,23 Jump Street.
Channing Tatum Has an Encouraging Update for23 Jump Street
Recently, at the ComicBook press junket for his upcoming romantic comedy withScarlett Johansson,Fly Me to the Moon, theMagic Mikeactor got candid about one too many things. One of these was the third film in theJump Streetfilm series that was massively anticipated, but never saw the light of the day.
According to reports fromComicBook.com, addressing all those long-standing rumors about the same, Tatum reportedly said:

There is a project that was written and it’s still the best script that I’ve ever read for a third movie.
Bestscript? That sounds promising. But why didn’t it get made? Well, according to the actor,“a lot of bureaucracy”has been posing a problem to that.

Channing Tatumcontinued to express the same during his candid never-known-before info about this movie revelation moment, saying:
It’s just a lot of bureaucracy, kind of above the line stuff. It’s really hard to get it made and we’ve been trying to get it done.

Effortlessly enough,“trying to get it done”sounds like a promising update.
But nothing can be said for sure, considering how, once previously as well, similar reports about this film being a crossover movie with theMIBsaga surfaced online but were soon seen biting the dust.
23 Jump Streetwas Reported to be aMen in BlackCrossover Film
Nearly a decade ago, the third movie in theJump Streetfilm series was greenlit by Sony following the tremendous success of the first two installments. Back then, it was reported that this movie would be a crossover one with the superhit fan-favorite franchise that was previously tamed byWill Smith: TheMen in Blacksaga.
However, the source of these reports was the actual problem. As it turns out, these reports came out after the massive company-wide data breach Sony faced that year at the courtesy of a hacker group. This breach reportedly led to confidential emails about multipleprojects of the companygetting leaked out to the general audience (via ComicBook.com).

The 21 Jump Street/Men In Black Crossover We Almost Got
But while the other projects that became the victim of these exposed industry-changing emails still managed to go forward (like ideas of an animatedfilm on Miles Morales’ Spider-Manand Spider-Man getting brought into the Marvel Cinematic Universe), this crossover project in particular was the only one of these three that failed to materialize.
Despite all of this, it seems like Tatum’s dreams for it are yet to be completely crushed.
Channing Tatum Would “Love to See23 Jump Street“
Although the franchise hasn’t really been facing a lot of good news lately despite being one of the best and most fan-beloved franchises around a decade ago, Channing Tatum still hasn’t lost all hope. In fact, if anything, he has even admitted that he would love to return withJonah Hillfor23 Jump Streetany given day.

According to what he continued to say during the same junket:
You know what, I’m going to put some good juju out there and I’m going to say I would love to see 23 Jump Street. I would love to do it with Jonah, and Jonah, I know, wants to do it. We would love to just get to go play again.
Well, from the way he talked about it,this piece of work could be nothing short of a masterpiece, perhaps even better than all the previous installments, if it actually manages to make its way to the screens. Then there’s his enthusiasm about it putting a cherry on top of this uplifting update he presented to his fans about the third film in theJump Streetfilm series.
For now, let’s just hope for the best.
