20th Century Fox trademarked theAlien: Blackouttitle in November 2018 and we have finally learned that it’s a mobile game set within theAlienfranchise. When the trademark was first made public, fans of the franchise were hoping that it was going to be the long-rumored TV series for a streaming platform, but it was later revealed to be a video game, which was still very exciting. However, many were under the impression that the game was going to be announced at The Game Awards 2018, which obviously didn’t pan out.

Now, it has been confirmed thatAlien: Blackout is a mobile game, and it will be coming to the Apple App store and the Google Play store soon. No release date has been revealed at this time. Rival Games and Theory Interactive are behind the new mobile game, which may leave more than a few fans who were expecting a PC orconsole gamefeeling disappointed. You can read the description for the game below.

“The terror of Alien is brought to life inAlien: Blackout. Try to stay alive while trapped aboard a crippled Weyland-Yutani space station carrying a deadlyXenomorphas it tirelessly hunts you and the crew. Outsmart the perfect hunter by making perilous choices. Players must rely on the damaged controls of the space station or risk sacrificing crew members to avoid deadly contact, permanently altering the outcome of the game.”

Players ofAlien: Blackout will have to survive seven fear-inducing levels by guidingAmanda Ripley’s crewthrough challenging tasks that only get harder as the game progresses. Players have to guide the crew using only the station’s emergency systems. The uncertainty and unpredictability of both the alien and her crew can impose total defeat for Amanda and the entire station. The game certainly sounds exciting, and it fits in with theAlienfranchise, but will it be able to hit the top of the App store charts?

In addition to the synopsis aboutAlien: Blackout, a trailer for the game was released, giving potential gamers an idea of what to expect. The graphics seem to be pretty decent, but it looks like the main draw is going to be the horror-level of anxiousness that the game produces. Amanda Ripley, who is thedaughter of Ellen Ripley, can be heard in the trailer as an Alien stalks her. If anything, the game will more than likely provide some pretty thrilling sequences that will heighten the blood pressure.

For thoseAlienfans who are still waiting for that often-talked about multiplayer shooter for the PC, it appears that FoxNext’s Cold Iron Studios is still working on the game. That game has been in development for over a year, so some news should be coming down the wire soon. For now, gamers will have to check outAlien: Blackout for the time being. A release date should be announced soon and you’re able to watch the trailer below, provided by the D3 Go! YouTube channel.
