Earlier this yearit was announced that acclaimed director Sébastien Vaničekwould be directing the newEvil Deadspin-off, and just a couple of months after that announcement, it’s been revealed that yet anotherEvil Deadfilm is in the works, with Francis Galluppi attached to direct. Galluppi is making his feature film debut withThe Last Stop in Yuma County,which releases on June 18, 2025. The new project is from an idea by Galluppi that he brought to Sam Raimi and the team at Ghost House Pictures.
According toDeadline, there’s no word yet on any plot details, or who might be involved in the production other than Galluppi and Raimi, who directed the original trilogy ofEvil Deadfilms from 1981 to 1992, and served as producer on the latest crop of movies. Everything is still in the early stages, but Raimi did release a statement praising the work of Galluppi, and his ability to build tension. Check out his comments below.

It was 10 years between the release of Fede Alvarez’sEvil Deadin 2013, and Lee Cronin’sEvil Dead Risein 2023. Fans of the franchise won’t have to wait as long in between films, as the next spin-off in the long-running series is eyeballing a 2025 release. Earlier this month, director Sébastien Vaniček was making the rounds to promote his latest release,Infested, and revealed that he is stillin the early stages of building the storyalong with his collaborator, Florent Bernard.

“We just wrote stuff with my co-writer. It’s the same co-writer I wrote Infested with, so I’m working with my team. I’m really glad. But we are in the process of building our story, our characters and everything, and we are chatting with each other.”

While he hasn’t revealed if hisEvil Deadfilm will connect to any others in the series, or even theAsh vs Evil Deadtelevision show, Vaniček is hopeful that his take on the Deadites will be finished in timefor a Halloween 2025 release. Speaking to Konbini back in February 2024, Vaniček said he’s hopeful that cameras can begin rolling by the end of the year.
“If all goes well, we could start filming at the end of 2024-beginning of 2025, for a release that I hope for Halloween 2025.”
In terms of what audiences can expect from the French filmmaker, he’s commented that hisEvil Deadmovie is going to be “a film that hurts, from which you come away tested.” If his previous work is any indication of what fans can look forward to, it’s safe to say that the franchise is in good hands with Vaniček.
