Arcane, the animated series based on theLeague of Legendsuniverse, has concluded its main story, leaving fans with a sense of longing. However, Riot Games and Fortiche have made it clear that this is not the end.
What’s Next After Arcane?
Instead of a third season, the future of Arcane lies in spin-offs that will explore new stories and dive deeper into iconic regions like Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia. This direction has been confirmed by Christian Linke, co-creator of the series, in an interview withThe Direct.According to Linke, the goal is to continue expanding this rich universe.
One of the most talked-about candidates to lead these spin-offs is Mel Medarda, the influential Piltover councilor who could serve as a bridge to explore Noxus, her homeland.

According to Linke, the interest in creating character-focused stories, such as one for Mel, reflects the desire to delve into her complex relationship with power and the political tensions in her region. The events of Arcane Season 2 hinted at a deeper connection to Noxus, laying the groundwork for what promises to be a rich and ambitious narrative.
“Not so much a Season 3, but individual stories about certain characters featured in ‘Arcane,’ across both seasons,” explained Linke. “There are definitely people saying, ‘Hey, let’s continue their stories in their own franchises and narratives.’ So, ‘Arcane’ is just the beginning. We want to keep telling stories,” he added.

What to Expect From the Spin-Offs
While not all details have been revealed, fan theories suggest the possible inclusion of keyLeague of Legendschampions. These include Singed, with his role in Ionia’s chemical warfare, and Jinx, whose survival following Arcane’s events remains a topic of debate among fans.
These stories would not only continue the arcs of beloved characters but also broaden the scope to other parts of the vast world of Runeterra. “Just to be clear, he didn’t say there would be three separate shows, but rather that three regions would be explored. We’re working on various shows (and games) simultaneously,” the creator specified.
Expectations for the Future
Although Arcane’s second season was well-received, some fans criticized its rushed conclusion, arguing that a third season could have allowed for deeper development of its protagonists’ stories.
However, Linke explained that from the start, the focus was on individual stories beyond the series’ main narrative. This decision, while divisive, opens the door to a more flexible and diverse storytelling model that could satisfy both longtime League of Legends fans and those who discovered Runeterra throughArcane.
