Ruby Rose’s Batwoman stops a prison break in the latest photo from theArrowverseElseworlds crossover event. Rose was announced as the character over the summer, which caused quite a stir online amongst trolls who were not happy with the casting. Ultimately, it led to the actress deactivating her social media accounts. However, a lot has changes since then, especially after a few comic book-accurate images of Rose asBatwomanstarted to appear online.

In the latest image from theArrowverseElseworlds event, Ruby Rose’s Batwoman takes aim with her grapple hook, shutting down a prison break. According to Entertainment Weekly, she’s stopping two inmates from attempting to break out of Arkham Asylum. It isn’t clear who exactly is trying to break out, butBatwomanisn’t going to let it happen on her watch.Ruby Rose looks awesome as the character, and in addition to the grappling gun, you can also see her Batarang.

Ruby Rose is clearly excited when talking about her role as Batwoman/Kate Kane, exclaiming “Look at that suit! Look at that red hair!” after looking at footage of herself on the screen. In a recent interview, she talked about how “empowering” it is to put on the suit that was custom-made for her, noting that it “changes everything and puts you in the moment.” She also talked about the differences between Kate Kane and Batwoman. She had this to say.

“She is more fun becauseshe’s a billionaire, she has ladies that love her. I think, for the most part crossover-wise, she’s swaggy. She always knew who she was, but she’s really coming into knowing who she is in the crossover, and with (the more stoic) Batwoman as well. It’s not the first time she’s put on the suit.”

This year’sArrowverseElseworlds crossover marks the first time that Ruby Rose will be seen as Batwoman. The 32-year old actress admits to being a comic book fan and as an added bonus, she grew up with real-life batsin her house. She even made her own wings out of cardboard to fly around the living room. However, she’s excited for the role for a totally different reason today. She explains.

“The fact that she is anoutwardly gay superhero, which is something growing up I would’ve loved to have seen on my TV, was a big deciding factor as to why I was so passionate about the role. This (role) just meant a lot more to me because I could relate in so many ways and, at the same time, felt like this was a job that would give me a purpose every day coming into work beyond just getting to live my dream, which is acting, and would be far more rewarding than anything I’ve done in the past.”

An openly gay superhero is still a bit much for some comic book fans to take, but theArrowverseElseworlds event is breaking some new ground. Additionally, the event will serve as a springboard for aBatwomanTV series, which is currently in development. If all goes according to plan, Ruby Rose is going to be playing a lot more of the character. You can read the rest of the interview with Rose over atEntertainment Weekly.
