With the Dual Blades featuring a Gauge Mechanic with the Demon Gauge and buffed states, the Demon Mode and Archdemon Mode provide additional damage and speed to the hunter. Skills that take advantage of the rapid attack speed and the Gauge Mechanic of the Dual Blades will help unleash the weapon’s full potential.
Focus -The Focus skill increases the fill rate of gauges and reduces charge times by up to 15% at max level (level 3). Even though the Dual Blades weapon has no charged attack, the increase in gauge fill rate is significant since you can fill the Demon Gauge to full and activate Archdemon Mode just by landing a few hits in Demon Mode. This will allow you to unlock the full moveset while using the Dual Blades and enable you to perform perfect evades and use your Demon Flurry attacks out of Demon Mode much faster after starting a hunt. The increase in the fill rate of the Demon Gauge also means that it will be easier to top up the gauge to ensure you do not exit Archdemon Mode during your hunts.
Power Prolonger
Power Prolonger -The Power Prolonger skill prolongs the duration you stay in a powered-up state for your weapons. For the Dual Blades, this means you will be able to remain in Archdemon Mode longer once you have activated it by filling the Demon Gauge. As the Demon Gauge drains slowly over time, irrespective of whether you are using Blade Dance and Demon Flurry or not, the Power Prolonger reduces the drain rate of the meter and allows you to stay in Archdemon Mode longer. Although you’re able to top up the Demon Gauge before it runs out by landing attacks apart from the Blade Dance combo while you are in Demon Mode, having the Power Prolonger skill equipped will allow you more time to do so, making it less likely for you to exit Archdemon Mode during your hunts.
The Focus and Power Prolonger skills are equipment skills that come with weapons and can be found on various weapons across the different trees available in the game. Marathon Runner –the Marathon Runner skill is an equipment skill found on armor pieces that reduces the continuous stamina depletion rate of actions that drain stamina. For the Dual Blades, this skill directly affects the stamina drain rate when you are using Demon Mode, as your stamina will drain continuously while it is active. Having the Marathon Runner skill lets you stay in Demon Mode for longer periods, allowing you to deal more damage to the monster.
Burst –The Burst skill is an equipment skill that gives your attacks a temporary increase in attack value, with an additional boost after the fifth strike. This works wonders with the Dual Blades, as you will be hitting the monster at least three to five times when you start your combos, and the fast attacking nature of the Dual Blades allows you to stack up huge amounts of damage over a short period.
Adrenaline Rush
Adrenaline Rush –The Adrenaline Rush skill increases your attack power after you perform a perfect evade just before a monster’s attack hits you. Since the Dual Blades feature a perfect dodge mechanic that grants you the Demon Boost buff, this skill further amplifies that buff by providing additional damage whenever you dodge with a perfect evade.
TheMarathon Runner,Burst, andAdrenaline Rushskills can be found on armor pieces when preparing your loadout, and although no armor set includes all three skills together, they are not particularly difficult to combine. Depending on the Decorations you have and by complementing them with Charms in the Talisman slot, you can mix and match armor pieces to create an optimal combination of these skills suited to your playstyle.
Second Best Tier skills for the Dual Blades
These next set of skills will help players using the Dual Blades when putting their loadout together as they will help in some aspect of the weapons playstyle.
Stamina Surge&Constitution
TheStamina SurgeandConstitutionskills are equipment skills on armor pieces that help with stamina management. The Stamina Surge skill increases stamina regeneration by up to 50% at max level, and the Constitution skill reduces the stamina depletion cost of dodges. These skills can help when using the Dual Blades, as managing the Stamina Bar during Demon Mode is a core mechanic. However, Stamina Surge will not reduce the stamina depletion of any other actions, and the Constitution skill affects only your dodges—not the Demon Mode’s stamina drain rate. This is why they are considered second-tier skills, since stamina drain will be the main factor affecting how often you need to exit Demon Mode. Although combining all the stamina-related skills can make stamina management much easier, it will reduce the overall damage output of your loadout by limiting your options for more offensive skills.
Protective Polish
The next skill,Protective Polish, prevents your weapon from losing sharpness for a set time after sharpening. This skill is good for the Dual Blades because, even at maximum sharpness, the Dual Blades can drop through the sharpness levels quickly due to the sheer number of attacks you perform. Having this skill in your loadout means you will have a window where you don’t have to worry about losing sharpness while hacking away with your combos.
Handicraft&Razor Sharp
The next two skills,HandicraftandRazor Sharp, also help with the sharpness level of the Dual Blades. TheHandicraftskill extends the sharpness gauge of a weapon by a set amount at each level, although it will not extend it beyond the maximum value. This helps lower rarity-level Dual Blades with their sharpness meter, but not rarity 8 weapons since they already have the maximum sharpness value. The Razor Sharp skill gives your weapon a chance not to lose sharpness with every strike, and at max level, this effect has a 50% chance to trigger. This skill can help the Dual Blades immensely if they are lucky, as their sharpness level might not even drop to the point where they need to be sharpened again using a whetstone; however, luck and randomness are involved, making this skill second-tier. It is also worth noting that both these skills are exclusive to Decorations, making them the second best for the Dual Blades.
Weakness Exploit
Another skill that is good to have when using the Dual Blades isWeakness Exploit. This skill increases affinity when attacking weak parts and further increases affinity when you hit or destroy wounds. It is a good skill to have when building your loadout around critical hits and affinity, but by itself, it does not provide a lot of value to the Dual Blades, making it a second-tier skill.
Other Optional Skills that can be used with the Dual Blades
In addition to the skill we talked about earlier, there are some other optional skills that can help you in certain aspects when using the Dual Blade.
Evade Window&Evade Extender
TheEvade WindowandEvade Extenderskills improve your dodges and evades by increasing the invulnerability window and the distance of your evades, respectively. This can help the Dual Blades user if they are having trouble dodging larger attacks. Keep in mind, however, that although the Evade Window skill increases the invulnerability window, it does not extend the timing window required to perform perfect dodges, so Dual Blades users with this skill in their loadout will still need to time their dodges.
Critical Eye
