Rod Fergusson, one of the key figures behind theDiablofranchise at Blizzard, has expressed the company’s desire for the fourth installment to continue receiving support for years.

Diablo IV —A Game Designed to Last for Years

“We want to be here for years,” Fergusson stated. “I don’t know if it will be forever. I think Destiny tried something similar by saying it would be a 10-year game, and in the end, that wasn’t the case. We want people to see the road ahead because we know that when you play a Diablo game, you’re likely to invest hundreds of hours, and we want people to know that we respect their time and that we’re not going anywhere.”

Regarding future expansions and the pace at which they intend to release them, Fergusson mentioned that he cannot make any promises in that regard, as they want to avoid officially announcing them until development has begun.

Blizzard Wants Diablo IV to Last for a Long Time

A few months ago,Diablo IVreceived its first expansion,Vessel of Hatred, which introduced a new act, a completely new region, a new playable class, and additional content and challenges. In our review, we concluded that “it’s still more Diablo IV, but it’s a textbook example of ‘more and better,’ elevating the gameplay experience far beyond what we had a year ago. And all of this while maintaining its exquisite and frenetic gameplay—the main reason why demon-slaying is far more fun and satisfying here than in any of its competitors.”
