With the official launch ofCrystal of Atlanto the global market, there has been a lot of speculation about which is thebestclass. While it’s difficult to provide a definitive answer, since class preference and playstyle can be highly subjective, this is a general breakdown of each class based on where they excel and where they lag, with final rankings based on each class’s strengths across multiple gameplay modes.

Ranking Criteria

This tier list aims to help new players start off on the right foot and give them the best chance to have a smooth entrance to the world of Atlan. We’ve based this primarily on ease of play for each base class, and on how situational their abilities are.

Because there are so many different things that can go into determining what tier a class ought to be, we’ve chosen to rank the classes based on several criteria. We’ll include a rating for each category, and ultimately rank each class based on how it performed across all of these categories.

These rankings are not a definitive statement of which class is worth playing or not. Much of a class’s success or failure is determined by the individual player.

Overall Ranking

Base Classes:

Advanced Classes

There are presently five BaseClassesin Crystal of Atlan. Each one has some unique abilities that will eventually morph into abilities specific to the advanced class chosen as a player progresses through the game.

Due to the use of limited dailyEnergyin the game, having multiple characters is strongly encouraged. This is further emphasized by theAdventure Teammechanic, which boosts the strength of all characters on an account based on combined experience levels and achievements. Because of this, players shouldn’t hesitate to try out many or all of the Base Classes below.

1. Swordsman

It should come as no surprise that theSwordsmanis the easiest of the base classes to play for new players. It’s simple, straightforward, and has little trouble cutting down bosses and large groups of enemies, making it an excellent first choice

2. Puppeteer

While its advanced classes can be extremely powerful in the right situations, thePuppeteerbase class can more than hold its own in the early game. The only real difference between this and the first-place class is the slightly added challenge that can come from working with the class’s companion Marionette.

3. Fighter

At low levels, it does its job. While it doesn’t necessarily excel at survival, theFightercan deal heavy damage, allowing it to take down bosses and clean up groups of enemies with little to no struggle. This makes it a solid base class choice for new players.

4. Musketeer

While having the advantage of range can be a boon in many cases, especially when playing with teammates, theMusketeercan struggle when faced with large groups of enemies in the early game. Despite this, it is still a viable class that evolves into two advanced classes that can pack a punch.

5. Magister

TheMagisterholds great potential, but in a game designed for high-speed and high-mobility combat, it struggles to keep up. Many of its abilities require stationary casting, putting it at a distinct disadvantage in the early game’s solo experience.

Players won’t spend much time playing Crystal of Atlan as a Base Class. Before finishing thefirst chapterof the game, characters have the opportunity to prove themselves and grow into a much more powerful Advanced Class. While continuing to level, it’s possible to swap between each Advanced Class associated with that character’s original Base Class; however, eventually, that character will be locked into just one. Luckily, it is possible, with the use of a shop-purchased item, to change a max-level character’s Advanced Class, but it is limited and can’t be done too often.

S-Tier Crystal of Atlan Advanced Classes

Scytheguard

Another evolution of thePuppeteer, theScytheguardis a unique entity among Crystal of Atlan classes. As the only class really capable of healing, they are powerful allies in any form of group combat. With a Scytheguard in the group, even classes that fall behind due to their survivability will find ways to rise to new heights. However, this also comes with a drawback. Their potential damage suffers somewhat, sacrificed for her sought-after utility.

Pure and unadulterated damage, theBerserkerthrows caution to the wind as he charges face-first into hordes of enemies and mows them down. The Berserker excels in single and team combat solely as a source of damage, but does it exceptionally well. With a relatively low entry skill threshold, the Berserker is easy for a new player to pick up and play, while becoming a potent force in the hands of more experienced players. It does, however, struggle with little mobility and weak survivability, making it less than ideal in solo-PvP.

An eclectic mixture of melee and spellcaster, theWarlockhas little difficulty defeating its opponents with its potent abilities. While their survivability skill is somewhat lacking, requiring the Warlock to deal damage to an enemy, they more than make up for it with sheer offensive power. To truly make the most of the class, however, players will need to learn how to best set up and detonateResentful CursesusingDemonmark Burst.

Bounty Hunter

The Bounty Hunter is an Advanced Class of theMusketeer. Shedding the heavy artillery that becomes the Gunner’s stable, theBounty Hunterinstead focuses on attack speed and mobility. They easily rank as the most mobile class in the game, thanks to multiple dash abilities, the quick escape provided byFrost Wind Bullet, and the more passive speed bonus fromDexterous. Additionally, their abilities tend to be rapid-fire and deceptively damaging.

TheMagibladeis the natural step that follows theSwordsman. Taking what the Base Class brought to the table and amplifying it. Adding magic to the mix, however, does come with some additional challenges. Many of its abilities require greater battlefield awareness and require multiple activations to get the most out of the class. This can cause the class to be a little more complex than a newer player might assume.

Cloudstrider

An evolution of theFighterBase Class, theCloudstrider’sbasic attacks gain a ranged component, as she relies on a highly mobile and flexible playstyle. Depending on the state of herDharma Natureskill, the Cloudstrider can deal incredible damage or frustrate opponents with her evasive CC. However, the management of this extra mechanic can prove to be a significant roadblock to mastering the class.

Starbreaker

Focusing on the up-close-and-personal fighting style one would expect from aFighterAdvanced Class, each of theStarbreaker’sattacks packs a wallop. Their kit also brings a fair amount of CC and devastating finishing combos to the fight. To truly let the Starbreaker shine, though, players will need to master the timing forCore AmplificationandFlamebound.

An Advanced Class of theMusketeer, the Gunner brings long-range firepower to the fight. With strong AoE and the advantage of range, theGunnerexcels in group combat. However, it struggles slightly when it comes to mobility, as a number of its strongest abilities require her to remain stationary or slow down her movement. She also lacks survivability skills, leaving her relying heavily onpetsand potions to stay in the fight.

Elementalist

An evolution from theMagister, theElementalistis a true caster class, using powerful spells to obliterate their enemies from a distance. Like the Gunner, however, the Elementalist suffers from turret syndrome, as most of their abilities require them to remain stationary while casting. This can mean the Elementalist may need to choose between dealing damage and avoiding a devastating blow.

Blademaiden

Advancing from thePuppeteerBase Class, theBlademaidentakes the pet-based class up a notch. Utilizing their Marionettes, Blademaidens are able to seize control of the battlefield and deal a lot of damage, but require precision and forethought to get the most out of their kit. Due to this, she can be easily overwhelmed by groups of enemies and may struggle inPvPsituations.

A class based on complexities and trickery, theMagicianrequires a steep learning curve to bring out its full potential. While they can deal a fair amount of damage, the class’s abilities can be a challenge to work into a smooth rotation, and they struggle with airborne combat. Despite lacking a skill that shields them, like the Elementalist’s Ionic Barrier, or the ability to heal themselves, like the Warlock, the Magician has a surprising amount of survivability in its kit, thanks toBody Double,Scary Doll, andEphemeral Quartet.
