Legendary game developerFromSoftwareis working hard on several upcoming projects. Unfortunately forElden Ringfans, none are the follow-up to the widely successful RPG.
In the past, Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed that there are no plans for moreElden RingDLC. Speaking withIGN Japanat the PlayStation Partner Awards, Miyazaki said that they are “not particularly considering developments such as anElden Ring 2.” That doesn’t mean the studio is done with the IP forever, though. We may see a return to the franchise in the future. For now, though, Miyazaki said that FromSoftware has their eyes elsewhere.

Sony Is Looking to Acquire FromSoftware’s Parent Company
FromSoftware has been in the news recently but for entirely different reasons. Their parent company, Kadokawa Corporation,confirmed that Sony wants to acquire them. While Sony reportedly wants to purchase only select parts of the company as part of strategic investments, Kadokawa expressed their desire for Sony tobuy them outright.
Games likeDark SoulsandElden Ringare multi-platform titles on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Still, two FromSoftware titles are exclusive to Sony platforms:Demon’s Souls, originally released for the PlayStation 3 and remade for the PlayStation 5, andBloodborne, released for the PlayStation 4 and, for some inexplicable reason, not remastered or ported to any other platform.

Should Sony acquire FromSoftware through the Kadokawa Corporation, it’s unknown if future games developed by the studio will be PlayStation exclusive. That was a hot topic after Microsoft acquired Bethesda and Activision Blizzard King. While some titles, such asStarfield, are currently exclusive to Xbox and PC, other games, likeCall of DutyandIndiana Jones and the Great Circle, will be coming to PlayStation 5. However, the latter will be released in “Early 2025,” several months after its Xbox and PC release date.
