LEGOis known for transforming popular IPs into brick-building sets, but there is one colossal gap in the company’s catalog that is about to get filled by a giant reptilian Titan.Godzillawill be taking on a new blocky form for the first time in its 70-year history, as LEGO has announced a massive set based onLegendary’s MonsterVersedesigns. The concept for the product came from a fan submission to the toy manufacturer’s Ideas Initiative, where creative builders are encouraged to share designs for potential approval to be turned into real sets.

The LEGO Ideas submission was made by Matthew Esposito, aka MattE720, who drew inspiration from the kaiju’s portrayals inGodzilla: King of Monsters, Godzilla vs. Kongand Legendary’s most recentMonsterVerse featureGodzilla x Kong: The New Empirewith their design. The idea reached the minimum 10,000 votes of support from the public required to make it eligible for consideration by LEGO alongside other qualifying creations that could potentially be selected by the review board to become an official product that hits shelves.

All 38 ‘Godzilla’ Movies in Chronological Order

There’s no lack of ‘Godzilla’ movies, but watching them in chronological order makes taking them all in so much more exciting.

While there will likely be some changes made between the submitted design and the final product released by LEGO, photos of the prototype creation (shared below) reveal the gigantic size of the majestic beast. While its dimensions are not provided by the designer, the tail being supported by a stand indicates that it could be quite a large and complex build. The model also features textured detail on the bricks, large claws, and an open mouth to attach Godzilla’s iconic heat ray breath via a separate piece of brick-building work in the set.

Esposito, the fan designer behind the concept, wrote in their LEGO Ideas submission, “I was really blown away by the new looks and appearances of Godzilla in these more recent films. I thought that this new look would translate well into LEGO. I can only imagine what you guys at LEGO would improve on with the model. It would be a dream of mine to witness how you guys would be able to design your version of this model with the pieces at your disposal.”
