Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2doesn’t start shooting until next year, with production taking place in Atlanta, Georgia. But the cast is already getting ready for their return on set. Today, starZoe Saldanashared a photo from the make-up room, which shows her slowly transforming into the green skinned Gamora. It won’t be long before we see her back on set and in action!
At this point, all we know aboutGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2is that all of theGuardianswill be back. The cast of characters include Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Groot (Vin Diesel), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) andDave Bautista.Pom Klementieffhas come aboard as the first new cast member, with rumors claiming that she is playing the very important role of Mantis, a new Guardians member.
(Warning!SPOILER!)James Gunnhas confirmed in the past thatGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2will, in fact, reveal who Star-Lord’s father is. Yesterday, a rumor surfaced regarding the identity of this incoming character. According to the initial report, fromHeroic Hollywood, theMarvelComics hero Mar-Vell, the original Captain Marvel, is Star-Lord’s mysterious dad. The site said to expectedMarvelto deny the story. And sure enough, just hours later,Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2directorJames Gunnshot down this rumor through a statement on hisFacebookpage, where he boldly stated that this is the last time he will comment on any rumors regarding his sequel. And it should be noted that the filmmaker is notorious for not lying in press interviews or on social media. So what he has to say is probably true.
“All right. From this moment on I’m going to stop commenting on any rumors surroundingGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, because, eventually, someone is going to come up with a spoiler that has some truth to it. That said, the rumors surrounding Quill’s parentage at the present moment are completely false, and aren’t even close to the truth. I don’t know how people come up with this stuff, but it certainly isn’t through legitimate sources. Also, I get the desire to get “scoops” on character inclusion and casting choices, etc. But since when is a plotspoilera “scoop”? Is this really what fandom wants to know? Plot details in movies ahead of time? I got in this business because I love movies, and I think most film journalists are the same way. And spoiling plot details doesn’t add to the enjoyment of the film-going experience. So bravo to those folks out there who don’t partake in this sort of thing. But, as I said, eventually someone will actually spoil some detail ofGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. So this will be my last comment squelching a rumor until May 2017. But if you do pick up on some plot detail between now and then, be aware, A) They are likely full of shit, as has been everyone so far who has claimed to have had inside info, and B) We’re creating a film that doesn’t rely on plot twists to be an enjoyable experience. They’re only a very small part of what we’re cooking up for you. James.”
You may recall just last week,Bradley Cooperseemingly let a big spoiler slip, while doing press forBurnt, where he claimed that Thanos is actually Star-Lord’s father, which was also later debunked byJames Gunnhimself. There will surely be a spate of rumors surfacing between now and the August 24, 2025 release date, but this will be the last timeJames Gunnspeaks about any of the unconfirmed plot details and characters in the sequel. For now, at least, we can breath easy in the fact that this latest sneak peek came directly from one of stars of the movie herself. Check it out asZoe Saldanaendures the slow, arduous transformation process as she turns into Gamora.
