The massive and highly-anticipatedexpansion to Elden Ringis finally upon us, but it’s neither a standalone product, nor can you access the content immediately. There are various requirements that need to be considered when approaching the expansion.
Starscourge Radahn
For starters, players will need to conquer the Starscourge Radahn himself. Radahn is located all the way southeast of the map in Caelid, with the player having to go throughRedmane Castlein order to get to the festival.
Depending on the events in the story, you might have to fight your way through Redmane Castle and even take down a duo boss or the location could be completely empty and the Festival awaits. I believe it has to do with talking toBlaidd at Ranni’s Rise, who will inform you of the Festival. Regardless, take down the giant, and it will unlock the first gate getting into the expansion.

Lord of Blood Mohg
Unfortunately, the other requirement will take some time to achieve. The goal is to kill Mohg, the lord of blood. This borderline god is a tough cookie to crack, especially at a lower level, but more importantly, it requires you to either progress the invasion questline viaWhite Mask Varré, which can be done at the earliest in Liurnia of the Lakes or teleported via theConsecrated Snowfield.
The latter is near the end of the game, requiring the player to not only slay Morgott, but collect the Haligtree Secret Medallions halves spread throughout Liurnia of the Lakes and the Mountaintops of the Gaints. It will no doubt be the biggest gatekeeper of players for getting into the expansion.
Take Thyn Hand
Once both of these requirements are achieved, rest at Mohg’s grace and you’ll notice a new figure standing in front of Miquella’s shell. This is Lady Leda, a knight guided by Miquella’s blessing. She will instruct the player to simply touch Miquella’s arm to be transported to the realm of Shadow where the Empyrean now dwells. She believes that you are there to help, but little does she know your true intentions.
Good luck in the realm of shadow as there’s a brand new power system to ensure players don’t plow through it and a ton of new and interesting lore spread throughout.
