Satisfactory1.0 is finally out on PC after being in early access for nearly five years. The new release improves multiple existing systems of the game, adds new content, and a few technical annoyances as well. This also means that existing mods will have to be updated to support the latest version as well. If you have been using mods and are running into the “Plugin SML Failed to Load” error in Satisfactory, here is how you can fix that.

Fixing the Plugin SML Failed to Load Error in Satisfactory

To fix the “Plugin SML Failed to Load Error” error in Satisfactory, you need to completely delete the mods folder in the FactoryGame folder where Satisfactory is installed.

This will delete all existing mods from Satisfactory, but your mod profiles will be safe, so you don’t need to back up the Mods folder either. After you have deleted the mods folder, Satisfactory 1.0 will launch without a hitch, unless you run into theUnreal Engine crashinstead.

For now, Satisfactory 1.0 does not “technically” support mods, so any existing mods will cause the game to display the error. To stay updated with the latest information on mods, we recommend joining the dedicatedSatisfactory Modding discord server.

We don’t expect the developers to drop mod support entirely, but since the 1.0 release is such a substantial update, it’ll be a while before modders can catch up with all the changes.

It’s an easy fix, thankfully, and if you’re also running intoproblems with your dedicated servers in Satisfactory, there are a few things that need to be updatedin the ports. While there are a few technical issues in the launch, we expect these to be ironed out soon.
