While the vast majority ofFinal Fantasy XIVplayers are more casual than hardcore, there’s still a good chunk of players who participate in the raid scene. Whether it’s the challenging Savage and Ultimate raids, or the simpler normal raids, there’s a significant amount of raid content in Final Fantasy XIV that can engage all forms of players.
In the latest 7.2 release on March 25, we received the second raid tier in the form of the Cruiserweight division of The Arcadion. This puts players up against four new challengers in the ring, and unlike most of the raids we’ve seen in the past, they aren’t villains, but simply rivals looking to become the best in their respective weight classes.

With that said, it has beeneight monthssince the release of theLight-heavyweight raid tier, so some may have forgotten where to go to continue and unlock the new raid tier. Thankfully, we have your back.
How to Unlock The Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Raid in FFXIV: Dawntrail
New content is always exciting in this MMORPG, but there’s something about wrangling up 24 players for a chaotic mess that has us excited.
Requirements
There aren’t too many significant requirements to unlock the Cruiserweight raid tier, but it does require you to be up-to-date in certain content. For starters, you will need to ensure that theDawntrailstory is complete. This means you will need tocomplete the final “Dawntrail” main story quest, without having to worry about the post-release patches, even though they are fairly short in comparison to past roll-out content.
After that is completed, the next requirement is tohave the AAC Light-heavyweight raid tier completed. This was introduced all the way back less than a month after Dawntrail’s release, giving us the first real taste of what we can expect raiding in the latest expansion. This requires the completion of not only the story, but all four of the raid floors.

After that is done, you will need gear. Fortunately, this is the easiest requirement. You will, of course, need tolevel 100, but the item level required to enter the raid tier is 715. The crafted gear from the previous raid release won’t suffice as it’s only 710, but fortunately the tomestone gear, coming from the Heliometry currency, can be purchased from the vendor in Solution Nine. This will require a bit of grinding to get, but there’s no longer a cap on how many of these tomes you can get. Alternatively, you can also grind the latest story dungeon in 7.2,The Underkeep, and obtain 725 gear from there.
Where to Unlock
After getting all the requirements sorted out, which are a bit more than what had to be done for the first tier, all that needs to be done now is unlock the raid tier itself. If you have forgotten where the story last left off, don’t worry. You’re not the only one. It has been eight months so we don’t fault you for forgetting.
To unlock the Cruiserweight raid tier, you will need to travel to Solution Nine and find Black Cat in front of her dojo. This is foundX: 22.2 Y: 16.6on the map. The closest Aethernet Shard that can be teleported to isTrue Vue. Talking to Black Cat will bring up the brand-new quest Souls under Siege, which will begin your adventures in the Cruiserweight division of The Arcadion.
