It’s annoying when you download an Apple TV app for your favorite entertainment provider only to realize that you cannot access the service due to regional restrictions, the need to connect with your cable service or pay for the service.
Of all the third-party content provider apps available for download in the tvOS App Store, only a handful of services are available on a worldwide basis.
To save you some time, Apple has put together a handy support document whichlistsall the content providers available on the second, third and fourth-generation Apple TV.
At the time of this writing, the following third-parties provided entertainment content to Apple TV owners via dedicated apps:
Of these 85 providers, only 18 were are available worldwide: ABC NEWS, Bloomberg, CBS Sports, Crunchyroll, Dailymotion, Flickr, KORTV, MLB, NFL Now, NHL, Qello, Red Bull TV, Tastemade, TED, Vimeo, Wall Street Journal, Young Hollywood and YouTube.
And of these 18 providers, only 11 offered 100 percent free content without needing to log in with a cable subscription or pay to access videos: ABC News, Bloomberg, CBS Sports, Dailymotion, Flickr, Red Bull TV, TED, Vimeo, Wall Street Journal, Young Hollywood and YouTube.
“Content from these services is streamed directly from the third-party content provider and may be subject to issues, such as service outages, that are beyond Apple’s ability to control,” cautions Apple.
The handy list also offers contact information for content providers and links to their official websites.
