A few months ago we got word that Warner Bros. was finally looking into doing aproper sequeltoMan of Steel.Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justicewas originally intended to be that, but it turned into something much more. Maybe not greater, but more. We now have word fromAmy AdamsthatMan of Steel 2is indeed being worked on.

The actress, who plays Lois Lane in theDC Extended Universe, is currently doing promotion for her latest movieArrival. Speaking withHey U Guys, she was asked about the status ofMan of Steel 2and she gave a little bit of an update on the progress of the movie, confirming that it is in fact happening. Here is what she had to say.

“I read about Man of Steel 2 when you guys did. A lot of times I find out after the fact, which is fine, it’s completely normal, it’s not indicative of anything. But yeah, I know they’re working on a script and I know it’s in the works.”

Originally, it wasThe Wrapthat stated Warner Bros. was actively developingMan of Steel 2, but the studio has yet to give official confirmation of that. SinceAmy Adamsis directly involved, her saying that the script is being worked on and that the movie is “in the works” is arguably the most official confirmation about the movie we have had so far. One of the big issues withBatman V Superman: Dawn of Justicewas the treatment of Superman. He wasn’t actually featured all that much in the movie, considering his name is in the title and fans have been very vocal about the mistreatment of the character in the DCEU in general.Man of Steel 2could represent a good opportunity to fix some of that.

Man of Steelofficially kicked off the DC Extended Universe back in 2013 and was the firstSupermanmovie released sinceBryan Singer’s much malignedSuperman Returnsfrom 2006. TheZack Snydertake on Superman did well enough at the box office, bringing in $668 million worldwide, and was enough for Warner Bros. to move ahead with a full slate of DC Comics movies. That batch of movies started withBatman V Superman: Dawn of Justiceearlier this year, also directed byZack Snyder, and that did not go nearly as well as anyone would have hoped.

At the moment,Man of Steelis actually the mostwell-reviewed moviein the DCEU. BothBatman V Superman: Dawn of JusticeandSuicide Squadwere trashed upon arrival. Both have abysmal approval ratings on Rotten Tomatoes with 27 and 26 percent respectively, whileMan of Steelsits at a bad but better 55 percent approval rating. There is still no word on when we can expectMan of Steel 2, but we are likely going to have to wait a while. Warner Bros. has two untitled DC comics movies to be released on Jun 02, 2025, and Jun 09, 2025. Odds are, one of those will beBen Affleck’sThe Batmanand the other could very well beMan of Steel 2. We will next see Cavill as Superman inJustice Leagueon August 18, 2025.
