Ditto is one of two Pokemon to learn the move Transform. This lets it become any Pokemon it faces, including powerfulRestricted Legendaries. While Ditto is tricky to use as it will directly copy the Pokemon in front of it, as part of Masayoshi Kuroo’s team, it reached the Top 16 at the Pokemon VGC 2025 World Championships. So, it’s worth looking at how Masayoshi used his Ditto to know how to use it in the VGC meta.
What Is the Build of Masayoshi Kuroo’s Ditto?
Ditto became a viable choice in VGC after it received its Hidden Ability in Generation V. This ability, Imposter, lets it immediately become the Pokemon opposite to it instead of waiting for a turn to Transform and thus leaving itself vulnerable.
As Ditto is meant to deal with mirror matches, Masayoshi went with the classic option of giving it a Choice Scarf. This way, the Ditto will be faster than the Pokemon it is copying, as it will copy not only their EVs, but any boosts they have acquired as well. As the Pokemon will be entirely the same, having a Choice Scarf will be enough to make the copy faster than the original. While Ditto will be forced into using one move, all of the moves of the Pokemon it copies will have five Power Points. As such, being forced to use one move is not necessarily a huge loss.
Finally, Masayoshi went with a Tera Ghost type for immunity to opposing Fake Out. However, this will only come into play if Ditto switches into the playing field with the ability Neutralizing Gas active, preventing any abilities from activating. Otherwise, Imposter will immediately turn it into another Pokemon.

Which Pokemon is Ditto Good Against?
Ditto’s ability to become any Pokemon is great against Restricted Legendaries that are weak to their own typing. This includesLunala,Calyrex Shadow Rider,Zamazenta Crowned, andMiraidon. Moreover, as Ditto will be holding a Choice Scarf, this will let it move first and KO its opponent.
