Digital Eclipse andAtarihave announced thatMortal Kombat: Legacy Kollectionwill have physical editions for PlayStation 5, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and even PC. They were revealed at EVO 2025 and pre-orders are now available at the digital stores for Atari, Limited Run Games and major retailers.
A Legendary Legacy to Dive Into
Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is a celebration of the classic fighting game series and its influence on the industry. Just like they’ve done before inTetris ForeverandLlamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story, Digital Eclipse’s upcoming project is an interactive documentary to showcase the importance of the Mortal Kombat IP.
As part of the documentary, it’ll be possible to check out concept art, archival video footage and interviews with original developers like Ed Boon, John Tobias, John Vogel and Dan Forden. Some of this material is exclusive content meant to help recreate the details and keep the history archived and accessible for curious players. There will be extensive exploration of the lore behind it, including a timeline of the original series' storyline, and behind-the-scenes explanations for characters.

The collection also includes some of the classic games in various editions. It’ll be possible to play through the arcade classics, console versions and some rare releases. One of those is the newly unveiled inclusion of Mortal Kombat Trilogy in the pack.

Originally released in 1996 on the first PlayStation, Mortal Kombat Trilogy is an edition of Mortal Kombat 3 that included all the playable characters from the previous two games as well. Soon after it would come the series' jump to 3D in Mortal Kombat 4. This is the ninth game confirmed for the collection, which also includes the arcade and console editions of the first three games, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 for arcade and Super Nintendo, the arcade edition of 4, and the three Game Boy Advance games.
Physical Editions in Three Different Options
The physical version of the game will be available in three different forms, as the game will have deluxe editions meant for collectors. Players who just want to get the game can buy the standard edition for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S or Switch for $49.99 or the Switch 2 one for $59.99. While PlayStation and Nintendo editions will be available at major retailers, it’ll only be possible to get the Xbox edition at the digital stores forAtariandLimited Run Games.
Deluxe Edition includes a Steelbook, poster, magnet, mini marquees, lenticular card, arcade flyers and arcade cabinet cards. It’ll be possible to get this one for PlayStation 5 or Nintendo Switch for $69.99. The Nintendo Switch 2 edition of the same tier will cost $79.99.

Finally, there will also be a Kollector’s Edition by Limited Run Games. It’ll include the Standard Edition along with a Goro controller holder statue, commemorative arcade token, pin set, and a hardcover art book that also features lore details. With a limited pre-order run from today up to August 31, this edition will cost $149.99, and it’ll be possible to get it for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC.

According to the companies, pre-orders for the Standard and Deluxe Editions will be shipped on December 12, but the shipment timing for Kollector’s Edition was not revealed yet. The companies haven’t provided a release date for the digital version of the game either, which is still set to launch in 2025 on the same platforms as the physical edition plus PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
