If there’s one thing Early Access teaches us, it’s that a game can either go terribly wrong or exceptionally well. Just askGrinding Gear Games, whose rival to Diablo 4 launched with favorable reviews.
The launch, however, came with adjustments that didn’t please everyone—because, let’s face it, you can’t satisfy everyone. The good news is that the studio already has plans for the 2025 Path of Exile 2 patch, which includes plenty of changes.
Jonathan Rogers, the game director, described it as a quick update to address common complaints. He noted that balance changes would roll out asPoE2continues to evolve.
In a slightly longer interview lasting around seven minutes, Rogers and his co-director Mark Roberts shared that the respawn system would soon expand.
Perhaps with version 0.1.1 arriving this very week, although they could only confirm it for one boss—Arbiter of Ash—due to time constraints.

Rogers emphasized that GGG has “a significant number of meta changes” planned, along with other updates.
“One of the best parts of having the game in Early Access with the current endgame is that we now have a better idea of where we want character strength to be and what the balance of bosses and monsters should look like,” Rogers explained.
“But those kinds of changes will have to wait until we’re ready to create a new League with a future economy for players to experience.”
It’s clear thatPath of Exile 2’sfirst patch of 2025, version 0.1.1, is going to make waves, especially for those already accustomed to the current gameplay style.
