Capcomcelebrates an important sales milestone forResident Evil Village, the latest main installment in the series. The company has announced that the game has surpassed 10 million copies sold, making it one of the most successfulResident Eviltitles released to date.
Resident Evil Village Surpassed 10 Million Copies Sold
AlongsideMonster Hunter, the Resident Evil horror franchise isCapcom’smost recognized and successful license, so it’s no surprise that we might soon see a new game. After all, the latest release in the franchise was the Resident Evil 4 Remake in March 2023, over a year ago.
It’s rumored that up to three projects in the series are in development. Some suggest that that Resident Evil 9 (which would end the current series story) could hit stores by late 2025.
Capcomis also reportedly working on two new remakes, bringingResident Evil Zero and Resident Evil Code: Veronicato new generations.
How has Resident Evil Village fared? It is the eighth main installment in the franchise, now celebrating its third anniversary since its release in 2021.
Capcom has published an update on the title’s sales, which has now entered the franchise’s hall of fame in terms of units sold to date.
Lady Dimitrescu Ensures Good Sales
Resident Evil Villagehas thus becomes the fastest-selling installment in the series to date. The cumulative figures for the franchise have also been updated: 157 million copies.
The confirmation of these figures places Village on the same level as Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 2 Remake, as they are the only three games in the franchise to have surpassed the 10 million copies sold mark.
Initially, RE Village was available onPC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. However, it later made its way toNintendo Switchwith a cloud version and also toiOSdevices.
Resident Evil Villageis, to date, the latest game chronologically in Capcom’s saga.The Shadows of Rose DLC(included in the game’s Gold Edition) partially closes the Winters' arc, paving the way for a possible ninth installment in 2025.
