This article will go over spoilers for the first two seasons of Scream: The TV Series.
Back when the possibility of gettingmoreScreamfilmsseemed like a pipe dream, a tv series baring the name came along. Scream: The Series featured a new cast, new location, and new mask for the killer, albeit one that was highly similar to the traditional Ghostface one. The third season of the show, subtitledResurrection, was a reboot of the reboot, leaving multiple cliffhangers unresolved. Until now, thanks to Beyond the Mask, a YouTube Channel that’s dedicated to the franchise.

“As most of you know, I have a big interest in the TV series and I was frustrated that we didn’t get the closure on the series that we deserved. But I’m pleased to announce that over the past few months I have been actively working on producing a continuation of the show through novelization format. The book will continue the story of the Lakewood Six and will answer some of the unanswered questions many of us had.”
The chapters forLakewood: A Scream Novelizationwill first be released on Beyond the Mask’s Patron every week. So there could be as many as three or four chapters released every month. All the chapters will then be collected as an exclusive e-book for the Amazon Kindle. Eventually, a physical copy of the book will be released worldwide some time next year. You can access theLakewoodPatreon here.

“I managed to have a chat with two showrunners from the TV series and I laid down everything that I planned to do with the novel. And they gave me their stamp of approval, which was something that meant a lot to me. But I was grateful to just have there okay on it, you know the time of where this is going.”

What Happened Before And What’ll Happen Next?
Many years ago in the town of Lakewood, bullied teenager Brandon James seemingly snapped and went on a killing spree before being gunned down by the police. Many years later, a new killer wearing Brandon’s surgical mask appears and embarks on a killing spree. Their primary target is Emma Duval (Willa Fitzgerald), the daughter of Maggie Duval (Tracy Middenorf), who once upon a time was Brandon’s only friend. At least, that is how things appear at first. Towards the end of the first season it’s revealed Brandon and Maggie had a child together, who grew up to be the new killer.
Just like the ever-popular Wes Craven movies, the series has plenty of twists and turns, including Piper, the child of Brandon and Maggie, having an accomplice, Kieran, who then kills her and is sent to prison at the end of season 2. However, he doesn’t last long there before being brutally murdered in a two-part Halloween special by someone wearing theBrandon mask/raincoat combothat he and Piper murdered people in. With many questions over who killed Kieran left unanswered, this is where the new book will come in to complete the story.
As detailed in avideo uploaded to YouTube, Beyond the Mask describes his book thusly:
“Set 4 years following the events of Season Two; the survivors of the Lakewood massacre have gone their separate ways. Despite their decision to put Lakewood behind them, danger is never far behind. Claiming to be Brandon James himself, a bloody trail is left behind in a series of pattern kills, with one destination in mind-Emma Duval. What is the killer’s link to Emma’s past? Why Did she leave Lakewood in the first place? One thing for sure, the end is near-and some of them may not make it out alive.”
