The Leviathanis set in the 22nd Century, where mankind has developed the ability to travel faster than the speed of light. This is made possible by harvesting exotic matter from the largest creatures Earth has ever seen, but those who are tasked with obtaining the matter do so involuntarily. Ruairi Robinson’s three-minute proof-of-concept video has been viewed more than 1.2 million times since debuting last week, which helped build plenty of buzz for this sci-fi film’s potential.

Ruairi Robinson is directing from a screenplay by Jim Uhls (Fight Club), although it isn’t known if 20th Century Fox is putting this project on the fast track or not. Ruairi Robinson made his directorial debut with the 2013 sci-fi thrillerThe Last Days on Mars, starringLiev SchreiberandRomola Garai.
