Reflecting on Her Role

Gough recalled her unusual introduction to video game voice acting, saying she had little knowledge of the medium when she worked onThe Witcher 3.

She also shared a humorous anecdote about fans and sound engineers who would whisper to her during recording sessions, asking, “Are you Yennefer?”—to which she’d respond, “Who’s Yennefer?”

“I didn’t know what I was doing. I’d never worked on a video game. A lot of men would come up to me in the sound departments on film sets and whisper, ‘Are you Yennefer?’ And I’d ask them, ‘Who is Yennefer?’” Gough recalled. Some fans believe this could be a misdirection to avoid spoilers, while others suspect CD Projekt may have recast the character or written her out altogether.

Uncertainty Ahead

For now, Yennefer’s presence inThe Witcher 4remains a mystery. Perhaps more will be revealed at the Summer Game Fest 2025?What is certain is thatThe Witcher 4will explore never-before-seen regions and locations in an open world, with NPCs promising “a more immersive experience than ever before.”
