How to create Mourning Frost by combining all three Icy pieces inBaldur’s Gate 3
InBaldur’s Gate 3, Mourning Frost isa two-handed Quarterstaffthat anyone can use if they’re proficient in Simple Weapons. The reason it is one of the best weapons in the game, at least one of the best early weapons, is because it deals 1d8 Bludgeoning damage, has Topple because it’s a Quarterstaff, has good range, is dippable, and, most importantly, it has Heart of Ice.
Heart of Ice is a special bonus unique to Mourning Frost. With Heart of Ice, whenever you cast a spell or cantrip on an enemy, youinflict Frostbitefor one turn. Frostbite is a status effect that makes enemies take an additional cold damage per turn and on taking cold damage until Frostbite is removed. Especially if you have your party members use cold spells and cantrips, Mourning Frost can be really powerful.
The cool thing about Mourning Frost is you have tocraft it yourselfby finding and combining Icy Metal, Icy Helve, and Icy Crystal.
Where to find Icy Crystal inBaldur’s Gate 3
Ice Crystal isfound on Filro the Forgotten. Filro the Forgotten is located on the northwest side of the Underdarkright next to the Sussur Tree fast travel point.
You can either sneak past the Hook Horrors andpickpocket the Ice Crystaloff of Filro the Forgotten or you candefeat the minibossand loot the Icy Crystal from his body. Where to find Icy Helve inBaldur’s Gate 3
The Icy Helve is found in the Underdark Fortnear the Selunite Outpost entrance, and it’sguarded by a Spectator. The Icy Helve itself isfound on an enemy named Dhourn.
In my research, I stumbled upon a really helpful walkthrough of how to get all three Icy pieces inSnark One’s YouTube video. Here, you can see that you don’t actually have to defeat the Spectator boss to get the Icy Helve. All you need to do isdefeat the Dhourn from a distance and then loot the Icy Helvefrom his body when the coast is clear.
Where to find Icy Metal inBaldur’s Gate 3
Lastly, the Icy Metal islocated in the Myconid vaultlocated in the north section of the Myconid Colony. I recommend you use Misty Step or Gaseous Form, either from the spell or from a scroll, to slip through the roots blocking the way. Once inside the vault, Icy Metal is found on a Drow body.
Once you have all three Icy items, open your inventory, right-click, and select “Combine.” Put all three Icy pieces into the pop-up window and you’llcreate the Mourning Frost!Now you can easily take onthe Forge boss Grym.
