Where to Find Mongrels in Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy features several mongrel types you’ll find throughout the main story. Some are exclusive to certain questlines, while others spawn randomly in the wild. We’ll get into quest-exclusive ones later to hold off on spoilers and instead focus on dark and regular mongrels.
Dark mongrels are the most common type you’ll see in the game. When you visit mongrel dens in areas like Hogsmeade Valley and Hogwarts Valley, you’ll usually find groups of dark mongrels waiting for a fight. you’re able to also encounter them during battle arenas waves, which you can find in North Ford Bog, Feldcroft and the Forbidden Forest’s Dark Arts Battle Arena if you have it unlocked.

Normal mongrels, on the other hand, are rarer than their dark counterparts. Rather than finding them in dens and the battle arena, you’ll spot them surrounding these areas. For example, while the Hogsmeade Valley mongrel den spawned Dark mongrels, you can find a few regular ones just south of this location.
They also spawn alongside poachers and other human enemies, particularly in regions like the Forbidden Forest. Check around bandit camps and the forest’s paths for better chances of finding them!
